Are you interested in serving the youth of our community through The Mentoring Network, Inc.? Because of the efforts of responsible and caring people like you, we are able to make a positive difference in the lives of our youth, helping them to rise above difficult situations in their lives. Are you ready to invest in a child?
We are looking for responsible, caring individuals to serve as volunteers for kids in Elementary or Middle Schools in Caldwell, Homedale, Nampa, Parma and Vallivue School Districts. Mentors and their student spend one hour each week in activities meaningful to that student. The children are referred because they have requested or their teacher feels they can benefit from some additional one to one attention.
Mentors work with school staff to provide one-on-one guidance and support as students pursue personal, family, and academic dreams. After completing the screening process, mentors will meet with their “mentees” approximately one hour each week in a supervised school setting to foster the development of academic and social skills.
Each Mentor and Child will determine how to best spend their hour each week. Volunteers can eat lunch with their assigned charge, read with them, help with homework, play a game, or just sit and talk.
The Mentor and their Child are only allowed contact at and during that hour each week at school. Each potential mentor must pass a background check.
Training and on-going support for mentors are provided by the program staff who are readily available for questions or concerns.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor and feel you are qualified, please complete, sign and submit the application forms linked on the right. Request references from three (3) people who know you well; each reference provider should complete the Mentor Reference Form and mail it directly to the program office. Once your application materials and references are received, you will be contacted for a follow-up interview.
